March 2009

It seems to me that there is often no better gardener than Nature herself and it is a joy to discover the self sown seedlings that happily appear without intervention on my part.

In the gravel garden at the front of our house conditions are ideal and each spring this little area is bright with the spreading clumps of acid yellow primroses. Viola odorataCyclamen and Meconopsis Cambrica are established amongst them ensuring that the display continues well into early summer when perennial geraniums will take over.

All this with minimal assistance from me ~ I am busy ‘out the back’, where the foxglove seedlings I plan to sell for theNGS at my Open Garden on the 17th May are out-growing their pots faster than I can re-pot them!
All proceeds go to charities including MacMillan Cancer Support and Marie Curie Cancer Care ~ what better reason for a visit to an open garden near you.
